To be honest, I don't really like the GLOCK. Not out of dislike for the brand (I love GLOCK), but I don't have them in significant quantities. It's a number between 0 and 4. Oh, and a T-shirt. The GLOCK 45 is considered a close relative of the GLOCK 19x. In addition to being plain, sleek, black instead of brown, the GLOCK 45 features an expanding magazine, front notches, a new generation Marksman barrel, and all the internal features of the GLOCK Gen5 pistols. Like the G19x, the GLOCK 45 "crossover" pistol combines a compact action with a full frame. My somewhat unscientific test protocol involved a GLOCK 45 pistol, three of which included GLOCK factory magazines and 200 Winchester 124gr 9mm NATO rounds. According to the owner of the gun, there were already about 500 rounds on the gun, and then all the problems should have been detected. However, I thought that 200 rounds over that would be something, if anything at all.
Some of my astute readers may have noticed that in this case I chose to use 9mm NATO ammunition. So, what is 9mm NATO, and how is it different from the "standard" 9mm?

The 9mm NATO is a "suppression" variant of the 9mm Luger. Basically, it runs at 36,500 psi instead of 34,100 psi. You get a little "power", especially from a short column, and yes, a little repetition. This is the military standard 9mm+P (see my Handgun Ammo Guide) that I carry every day. That being said, a 9mm round will hit your gun a little, but most modern guns won't.
I was looking for two things: ammo transfer simulation, and some stress to see if anything would happen.
Before going to the field, I tested the ergonomics of the GLOCK 45 with a few hard guns and the like at home. The gun looked comfortable to me. Having a handle-length definitely helps. It doesn't feel at all that the gun is front heavy. The lack of fingerprints was noticeable, but you shouldn't get hung up on this. The previous steps seemed to help lock the bolt in some way. I replaced a few magnets as soon as possible and a little "racing" shape of the magwell added helped. The compact slide and barrel make it easy to carry. It is important to note that the GLOCK 45 fits most G19x holsters.
I didn't expect anything bad from the GLOCK 45 at the training ground. The GLOCK may have a bit of a fan culture, but that doesn't mean it's a sub-par weapon. GLOCK is trusted by professionals around the world, and for good reason. They work. Much more reliable and accurate than most shooters themselves, they just go. And go. And go.

The GLOCK 45 is no different. I had never fired a crossover pistol before and was amazed at how well it shot. It's more accurate than I am and it showed my limited affinity for "lobster" pistols. Lobster is when the shooter squeezes his grip even harder while pulling. The right way is to keep it tight and firm and just use your thumb. Omar tightens his grip as he punches something. We are not lobsters.
The guns were the same and even fun to shoot. No crashes at all, regardless of the log. It went on and on.
Since it wasn't my gun, I figured I'd do a good job with the owner and clean it up a bit before returning it. Disassembly is not difficult, although in order to separate the gun, you need to pull the cord. I find this annoying, but for some reason the GLOCK doesn't. It's fine. The assembly is a piece of cake, you can assemble the gun in 20 seconds.
I can recommend this gun to the beginner and experienced shooter. Beginners (with proper instruction) will love the soft recoil, flat shooting and pleasant ergonomics. You need a hammer. Experienced shooters will appreciate the addition of the Marksman barrel and the benefits of the crossover concept. This is a reliable weapon, whether you are a professional user looking for a new weapon to use or an average guy/girl looking for something to protect yourself.
