The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is the best-selling SRT car, but if you remember back in 2011, SRT was brought under its own brand name. Instead of marketing as before, FCA decided to transform the nameplate into a brand of its own. The brand was short-lived due to its confusing nature. In 2014, the SRT was returned to the Dodge brand; however, there were two exceptions: the Grand Cherokee SRT and the Chrysler 300 SRT export, which were sold in select markets outside of North America.

Things started to change last year when Jeep launched the 2018 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The Trackhawk has its own badge, though it was created by the SRT engineering team. The Trackhawk is the only SRT reference on the entire car, with the 6.2-liter HEMI HELLCAT V8 supercharger found on top of the IHI.
We expect it to replace the Grand Cherokee SRT, but it will be called the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. We expect the mystery model to continue with the standard naturally aspirated HEMI V8 and the same all-wheel-drive performance as the original. However, our sources say the next HEMI will be powered by the 7.0-liter (426 cubic inch) "Banshee" SRT V8. That engine will produce figures north of 520 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque and won't hit the market until 2021.
What about the current Trackhawk? According to our sources, the HELLCAT-powered beast isn't going anywhere. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Supercharged is the official name for the next-generation 6.2-liter HEMI HELLCAT beast. Many are hoping that the 797 horsepower 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT HELLCAT Redeye variant will make its way to the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Supercharged, which is highly unlikely. That's not to say that the HELLCAT version of the engine won't be able to make a little more power thanks to better cooling, but the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT looks like it's getting a boost from the HELLCAT models.

As the 2015 Charger and Challenger Hellcats debuted, MOPAR fans wondered what SRT's next project would be. Then in April 2017, SRT announced a Hellcat-powered Jeep: the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. With 707 horsepower, it was supposed to be the most powerful car Chrysler ever built.
Originally, the SRT 5 took on the 448-pound Jeep Grand Cherokee. The team then installed the legendary Hellcat supercharged V8. They mated the engine to an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The resulting car can carry five passengers in any conditions: from dirt roads to race tracks.

Some critics expected the new Jeep Trackhawk to be a complete joke. But then MotorTrend got their first test car and took the Trackhawk to the track. Its time has destroyed many doors on the road, including the best-trimmed SRT: the Charger Hellcat Redeye and the popular Dodge SRT Challenger.
MotorTrend completes controlled acceleration tests with every vehicle it evaluates. On Sunday, the publication even runs its tests in two directions and averages the results. Jeep originally said the 2018 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk would accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. MotorTrend found it even faster.
When MotorTrend tested the Trackhawk, its reporters found the car's best 0-60 time to be 3.3 seconds. That time was at least 0.4 seconds faster than any other Hellcat product the team tested. The only car to hit 60 mph in MotorTrend's tests was the Tesla Model X.
In the same race, the Trackhawk went on to run the 1/4 mile in 11.7 seconds, crossing the finish line at 116.2 mph. Finally, the Hellcat-powered Jeep lapped the MotorTrend-eight course in 24.7 seconds.

Although 70% of the Trackhawk's 707 horsepower goes to the rear wheels, its AWD is the Hellcat's main advantage.
Even though Dodge killed off the supercharged Hellcat, this legendary muscle car isn't going quietly. One of the latest variations of this beast is the 2021 Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye. Its engine is revved up to 797 horsepower. Additionally, every 2021 Charger ships with a Redeye SRT factory package. This drops tires from 9-inch wide to 11-inch units.

Unlike the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, the Charger V8 only offers RWD. That means each rear wheel must put 398 horsepower to the pavement. Stepping on the gas, even when traveling at 70 MPH, will cause the tires to go flat. The Hellcat Redeye Charger doesn't have a chance to use its full power until it's far behind the speed limit.
At higher speeds, the charger eventually connects. MotorTrend writer Duncan Brady explained, "The Hellcat Redeye Charger feels like it's pulling harder than 90 mph."
If you're measuring 0-60 mph times, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is faster than the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye — on paper. But speed demons interested in triple-digit rockets may want to at least give the Charger a second look.
