The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is the best-selling SRT car, but if you remember back in 2011, SRT was brought under its own brand name. Instead of marketing as before, FCA decided to transform the nameplate into a brand of its own. The brand was short-lived due to its confusing nature. In 2014, the SRT was returned to the Dodge brand; however, there were two exceptions: the Grand Cherokee SRT and the Chrysler 300 SRT export, which were sold in select markets outside of North America.

Things started to change last year when Jeep launched the 2018 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The Trackhawk has its own badge, though it was created by the SRT engineering team. The Trackhawk is the only SRT reference on the entire car, with the 6.2-liter HEMI HELLCAT V8 supercharger found on top of the IHI.

We expect it to replace the Grand Cherokee SRT, but it will be called the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. We expect the mystery model to continue with the standard naturally aspirated HEMI V8 and the same all-wheel-drive performance as the original. However, our sources say the next HEMI will be powered by the 7.0-liter (426 cubic inch) "Banshee" SRT V8. When MotorTrend tested the Trackhawk, its reporters found the car's best 0-60 time to be 3.3 seconds. That time was at least 0.4 seconds faster than any other Hellcat product the team tested. The only car to hit 60 mph in MotorTrend's tests was the Tesla Model X.

In the same race, the Trackhawk went on to run the 1/4 mile in 11.7 seconds, crossing the finish line at 116.2 mph. Finally, the Hellcat-powered Jeep lapped the MotorTrend-eight course in 24.7 seconds.

Although 70% of the Trackhawk's 707 horsepower goes to the rear wheels, its AWD is the Hellcat's main advantage.
