The tactical market includes not only law enforcement and the military, but also civilians who enjoy defense and those who enjoy shooting in general.
When STI rebranded as Staccato, they not only changed the company name, but also changed their offerings.
These 2011 models, including the Staccato P, have been used by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the US. Tested by law enforcement including marshals.

They were approved for service use and the gun was accepted by the front marshals. This acceptance gave Staccato a good launching pad to capture a large portion of the high-end tactical pistol market.
The Staccato P is a shotgun sized for work and is the brand's flagship model when it comes to work use. They offer the Staccato C2, a slightly smaller version designed primarily for concealed carry.
As mentioned earlier in this review, the Staccato B is primarily intended for office use. Still, this is a gun that can work for many roles.
It can be fired as a concealed-carry competition rifle or used as an OWB carry option. The P is very versatile for a large gun.

If you plan to carry this gun, you should consider replacing the magazine well or removing it entirely. This will seriously affect the concealment of the gun.
It also has the ability to accept longer magazines with a capacity of 20 rounds or more.
There are many different magazine options for 2011 with different lengths and capacities. You can buy these magazines directly from Staccato, or you can get an even higher quality magazine through a company called MBX.
MBX offers tactical-style followers or racing-style followers that lock the slide in the final round.

Many people use Staccato magazines because they work well and cost only half as much as their MBX counterparts.
One notable thing you will see in this Staccato P review is that the gun has a large magazine with a two-piece design.
Another part is the maguel, which is attached by a pin to the back of the grip. This design is bulky and makes it very easy to insert the magazine into the gun.
Just remove the maguel from the gun and use the well in the grip. You still have a good round in the back and the gun and a little round in the sides.

You get an easy to use mag, even if you make this gun compact by setting it up for concealed carry.
This gun, as we said earlier, is a 2011 design. That means it uses a 1911 slide and has its own frame that connects the slide and grip block.
You can replace it with metal modules made by aftermarket manufacturers. They can be made of materials such as titanium, aluminum, steel, etc. The material determines the weight and durability.
There are many options and you can easily change the factory settings. If you want to keep the gun even more concealed, units designed to accept short magazines are available at Staccato.

The Staccato 2011 grip unit does not have removable back or front straps. Like many 1911 models, this design has a beaver tail safety.
This is a very well designed beaver tail guard. The 1911s I've handled over the years either had trouble removing the safety mechanism reliably, or I felt like the sides and edges were a bit sharp.
I had no such problem with Staccato 2011; It is well oriented and feels good in the hand.
However, they are not perfect. I have dealt with guns like Don Wessons and Nighthawks and they seem to mix a little better.

These guns often cost $2000 more than a similar setup, the Staccato P. So it can't be compared to apples.
It also has small numbers on the front and rear band and on the side of the gun.
Each side also has a Texas star on the bottom of the grip. I like that touch.
This gun will not hurt your skin when concealed. It won't tear your hands apart if you shoot a large number of rounds.

Even if your hands are sweaty and wet, it's still aggressive enough not to slide down your arm.
The overall feel of Staccato 2011 is that it's a big gun. This is definitely a gun that you know is in your hand, and if you're a shooter with a small hand, I can see how that could be an issue.
Thanks to its ergonomics, even a shooter with a small hand can properly reach all controls on this weapon, except for the bolt and magazine release.
If they are worried about activating the safety and pulling the trigger, I think they won't have a problem.

From the factory, the Staccato P comes with two scope configurations: you can get it with a dovetail front sight and a front optical sight, or you can get the rifle with a DPO model like I have.
From the factory, the pistol came with a rear sight mounting plate. It has optical displays on the front and black on the back. These sights are perfectly acceptable for a gun like this.
I was able to shoot them well in the one range session I had with the scope, but I wish the staccato on this gun had a slightly thinner muzzle.
If I had the gun in an iron sight configuration, I would change the Dawson Precision iron sight to a .115 unit.

If you have a Staccato P DPO, Staccato offers a variety of plates so you should have no problem finding a red dot to fit this gun.
You can use RMR Holosun, RMRcc Holosun 509T - there are many advantages that fit this gun. You can even mount an Aimpoint ACRO.
I used one of these because it was less than the factory Staccato offerings, but I don't know if I would use it again. Mine came loose after 200 rounds and 500 repetitions of dry firing. I received an email from them offering to upgrade to their new version of the optic for less than half the price of the old version.
Personally, this drives me crazy because I don't think customers should be charged for returns if they feel the need to offer this upgrade to customers. In their defense, I didn't contact them after mine came loose.

If I had it to do over again, I'd take the Dawson mounting system and run with it.
Not a big deal because I like the blacked out front sight anyway. Not a fan of the fiber as I use Trijicon RMR.
If you're a red dot fan and want to own one in 2011, the Staccato P is a great option. The number of red dot options puts it above and beyond other offerings on the market.
The 1911 series pistols have many controls and the 2011 Staccato P is no different. The restrictions make or break the gun, so review them all to see if this gun is right for you.

As we said earlier, this gun has a grip safety on the back and is very ergonomic. There isn't much to say about it, but let's take a closer look at the two-handed thumb safety that this gun offers.
The Staccato 2011 double safety is well designed and is your standard 1911 safety. There are no really sharp edges anywhere and it almost fits perfectly on both sides.
The fins are the same width, but the left side guard is slightly larger. It has the same width as the fin, but is slightly longer to account for the piston mounted on the side of the gun.
It's much easier to just put your thumb under it and slide it back so the gun is safe again. I think Staccato did a great job with this gun considering the price.
